Beyond Sherwood Forest

12th Century England: It is a deadly time of dark tyranny, black magic, and the outlaw archer known as Robin Hood (Robin Dunne of SANCTUARY). But when the Sheriff of Nottingham (Julian Sands of 24, WARLOCK) unleashes a winged monster upon town and woods to massacre Robin's men and capture Maid Marian (Erica Durance of SMALLVILLE), hearts run cold with fear and streets red with blood. Before he can rob from the rich or give to the poor, can The Prince Of Thieves survive the demonic onslaught of a winged beast from another world? Katharine Isabelle (GINGER SNAPS) co-stars in this chilling new take on the infamous hero from director Peter DeLuise, filled with valor, vengeance and nightmare creatures that take you behind the legend and Beyond the Sherwood Forest.

I was intrigued by the synopsis, but hesitant because I'd never heard of it. I am a big fan of Robin Hood and all versions of the story, so it was disconcerting at first. They draw you in straight from the beginning and jump right into the story. There's violence, death, torture, blood - definitely enough they would have earned a PG-13 rating at the very least. I, personally feel it should be rated NC-17 because there are suggestive scenes indicating r*pe and psychological trauma on top of the violence. The performances are top notch and definitely worthy of praise. Peter DeLuise always knows where to direct and how to make the most of a scene. Robin Dunne is the perfect Robin Hood, just as Julian Sands will always make the best villain. Katharine Isabelle does an amazing job as the beautiful yet maudlin Alina. Erica Durance brings all the right feistiness to Maid Marian's role throughout. I give it a 5 Star Rating and hope you take it upon yourself to give it a whirl. Voyeurs of media will have a blast!
